It's been exactly a month since the campaign ended!

We promised to inform you regularly so what's new since our last news?

After taking the time to celebrate the culmination of the campaign with our loved ones, we took a few days of rest and reunion with our families.

Then, we prepared our visit to...

Cannes International Games Festival

From February 23 to 26, the famous FIJ in Cannes was held, for which we reserved a stand and several demonstration tables. For 4 days, we chained nearly 80 demo games, with around 250 players. Among them, curious passers-by who discovered the game with often great astonishment, some people who were waiting to be able to test the game and form an opinion (and they were not disappointed), PLUS some of you who pledged during the campaign and wanted to make sure they supported a good project.

All of them, without exception, gave us very complimentary feedback and showed a lot of affection for the game and our approach as authors.

Moreover, the stand was full all the time and we had to ask for help from the author/fan friends present on-site to take turns from time to time on the explanations of rules or the follow-up of the games!

So thank you to all of you for your incredible support and your considerable and flattering feedback.

We still have a show near us (Jeux & Cie in Epinal - 88) from March 10 to 12, 2023 which we will be participating in but which will require much less preparation and logistics. We will therefore be able to complete a task in progress:

Opening of the Pledge Manager

We received dozens and dozens of messages here on Kickstarter but also privately on social networks or on our website asking if it would be possible to support the project in late pledge. So we know that it is now urgent to complete the configuration of the tool (Backerkit) and we are currently working to enter all the necessary information and then import all the campaign support into the site database.

We are doing our best to open this tool in the coming days and we will be sure to let you know here and on social networks.

Voilà exactement un mois que la campagne s'est terminée !

Nous vous avons promis de vous informer régulièrement alors quoi de neuf depuis notre dernière actualité ?

Après avoir pris le temps de fêter l'aboutissement de la campagne avec nos proches, nous avons pris quelques jours de repos et de retrouvailles avec nos familles.

Puis, nous avons préparé notre venue au...

Festival International des Jeux de Cannes

Du 23 au 26 Février se tenait le célèbre FIJ de Cannes auquel nous avons réservé un stand et plusieurs tables de démonstration. Pendant 4 jours, nous avons enchaîné près de 80 parties de démo, soit environ 250 joueurs. Parmi eux, des curieux de passage qui ont découvert le jeu avec souvent un grand étonnement, quelques personnes qui attendaient de pouvoir tester pour pouvoir se faire un avis (et ils n'ont pas été déçus), mais aussi quelques uns d'entre vous qui ont pledgé pendant la campagne et qui voulaient s'assurer d'avoir soutenu un bon projet.

Tous sans exception nous ont fait des retours très élogieux et ont témoigné beaucoup d'affection pour le jeu et notre démarche d'auteurs.

D'ailleurs, le stand était plein en continu et nous avons dû demander de l'aide à des amis auteurs / fans présents sur place pour nous relayer de temps en temps sur les explications de règles ou le suivi des parties!

Merci donc à vous tou(te)s pour votre accueil incroyable et vos retours nombreux et flatteurs.

Il nous reste un salon proche de chez nous (Jeux & Cie à Epinal - 88) du 10 au 12 Mars 2023 auquel nous allons participer mais qui nous demandera nettement moins de préparatifs et de logistique. Nous allons donc pouvoir terminer une tâche en cours:

Nous avons reçu des dizaines et des dizaines de messages ici sur Kickstarter mais aussi en privé sur les réseaux sociaux ou sur notre site web pour nous demander s'il serait possible de soutenir le projet en late pledge. Alors nous savons qu'il est urgent maintenant de terminer la configuration de l'outil (Backerkit) et nous travaillons en ce moment même pour saisir toutes les informations nécessaires puis importer tous les soutiens à la campagne dans la base du site.

Nous faisons de notre mieux pour ouvrir cet outil dans les jours à venir et nous ne manquerons pas de vous en informer ici et sur les réseaux sociaux.

 The campaign is over... but it's now that it all starts, thanks to you! Behind our screens, we applaud and thank each of you even if we don't have the chance to know you all personally.

In March, we will open the pledge manager on Backerkit, where you can finalize your support and let us know your delivery address. You will receive a message to announce its opening.

Going forward, we will keep you informed of our progress regularly (once a month on average) on the edition of this game and its expansions. We will not confuse speed with haste because we want to deliver the greatest adventure we are capable of creating.

🦋🎥 Last Livestream Event of Once Upon a Line KS campaign

The campaign ends in 24 hours and we wanted to take the time to thank you all for your support during these 3 weeks by giving you one last "live" campaign with a little surprise: the creation of an original illustration of the game Le Breath of the Butterfly live!

Guillaume Weber is the artist behind the two covers of the Splendor & Degradation and The Trance of the Silverfish expansions. While we are live, he will create for our greatest wonder an illustration of Chapter 1 of the main saga.
His work will probably not be completely finished, we will discover his progress at the end of the live. Don't miss this rare and precious moment: the birth of a graphical work by a very talented artist!

The Competition

You enjoyed participating in the contest by submitting your best ideas for using 4 possible insects in the Kell universe. We are therefore very happy to reveal to you this work-in-progress sketch made by Alex after the public vote which rewarded Jojojo95's original proposal to use ladybugs as a sail for a boat.

La campagne se termine dans 24h et nous voulions prendre le temps de vous remercier toutes et tous pour votre soutien pendant ces 3 semaines en vous accordant un dernier "live" de campagne avec une petite surprise : la réalisation d'une illustration originale du jeu Le Souffle du Papillon en direct !

Guillaume Weber est l'artiste qui se cache derrière les deux couvertures des extensions Splendeur & Déchéance et La Transe des Poissons d'Argent. Pendant que nous parleront, il réalisera pour notre plus grand émerveillement une illustration du Chapitre 1 de la saga principale.
Son œuvre ne sera sans doute pas complètement terminée, nous découvrirons son avancement à la fin du live. Ne manquez pas ce moment rare et précieux : la naissance d'une œuvre graphique par un artiste très talentueux !

 Vous avez aimé participer au concours en proposant vos meilleures idées d'utilisation de 4 insectes donnés dans l'univers de Kell. Nous sommes donc très heureux de vous dévoiler le croquis de recherche fait par Alex après le vote du public qui a récompensé la proposition originale de Jojojo95 d'utiliser les coccinelles comme voile pour bateau.

It is with these few words of rare poetry that we conclude the cycle of fifteen Daily Reveals... not without a certain emotion!

All of these scenarios would be in vain without their associated deck of Story Cards! That's why we're opening this beautiful Splendor & Degradation expansion box one last time to slip in one last component.

In this adventure, you will experience, from the inside, the tipping point in the life of Father Latreille. Find out how he went from light to dark, and how he somehow returned to light. The most beautiful treasures of life are not always where we expect them.

In this scenario, nearly 19 XXL format cards will be added and almost all illustrated. Among them, 2 cards for a new surprise Hero to unlock for The Butterfly’s Breath saga...

💬 The authors' note:

”This is the last Daily Reveal News of this campaign and we are closing a small slice of our life there. Much more than simple commercial operations, these crowdfunding campaigns are for us the means to constitute the base of our main engine: the players!

Seen from the outside, it is undoubtedly in your eyes a beautiful campaign well carried out by two motivated friends. Seen from our window, it is above all a small piece of our being that we will have deposited in a social and global arena. Each of your encouragements, even discreet ones, came to weigh criticisms completely justified but which it is difficult to embrace when the sleep is lacking and the stress wins us. On the lookout on all fronts, we have done our best to explain, reveal and serve. No doubt we will say to ourselves later that “we should have” and that “we could have” but much more than the destination, it is the path that we must remember.

All these words to tell you that we are infinitely grateful for your trust. We will try to be worthy of it and offer you the best playful and narrative experience of which we are capable. Opening of the plot:

At the age of 80, Latreille is determined to resume his destiny. Armed with his courage and a fierce confidence, he goes to the entrance of the great white tower, a monumental building dedicated to the training of the intellectual elite of Kell. At the entrance, a large amphitheater where dozens of candidates jostle for the admission exam. Among them, the young Scarin accosted him in a familiar tone and offered to give him the answers to the written test, obtained from a reliable source by a cousin Lepidore.

Is this boy trustworthy? Are you ready to cheat on this exam to get the magic password? Is the imposing examiner, named Chrysal, distracted enough to be fooled by Scarin's the shemeer?

Whatever happens, it is the practical exam on a wild island that will put our elder severely to the test. And despite his great experience, Latreille knows that he no longer has the ardor of his 20s.

Voilà pourquoi nous ouvrons une dernière fois cette belle boîte d’extension Splendeur & Déchéance pour y glisser un dernier composant. Dans cette aventure, vous vivrez de l’intérieur le point de bascule dans la vie du Père Latreille. Découvrez comment il est passé de la lumière à l’ombre, et comment, d’une certaine manière, il est retourné ensuite à la lumière. Car les plus beaux trésors de la vie ne sont pas toujours là où nous les attendons.

Dans ce scénario, ce sont près de 19 cartes format XXL qui seront ajoutées et presque toutes illustrées.

💬 La note des auteurs :

”C’est la dernière Actualité Daily Reveal de cette campagne et nous clôturons là une petite tranche de notre vie. Bien plus que de simples opérations commerciales, ces campagnes de financement participatif sont pour nous le moyen de constituer le socle de notre moteur principal : les joueur(euse)s !

Vu de l’extérieur, c’est sans doute à vos yeux une belle campagne bien menée par deux amis motivés. Vu de notre fenêtre c’est surtout un petit morceau de notre être que l’on aura déposé dans une arène sociale et mondiale. Chacun de vos encouragements, même discrets, est venu pondérer des critiques tout à fait justifiées mais qu’il est difficile d’embrasser quand le sommeil manque et que le stress nous gagne. À l’affût sur tous les fronts, nous avons fait de notre mieux pour expliquer, révéler et servir. Sans doute nous dirons-nous plus tard que “nous aurions dû” et que “nous aurions pu” mais bien plus que la destination, c’est le chemin qu’il faut nous faut retenir.
Tous ces mots pour vous dire que nous vous sommes infiniment reconnaissants pour votre confiance. Nous tâcherons d’en être dignes et vous offrir la meilleure expérience ludique et narrative dont nous soyons capables.

Ouverture de l’intrigue :

À 80 ans passés, Latreille est bien décidé à reprendre son destin. Armé de son courage et d’une confiance farouche, il se rend à l’entrée de la grande tour blanche, édifice monumental voué à la formation de l’élite intellectuelle de Kell. À l’entrée, un grand amphithéâtre où se bousculent des dizaines de candidats à l’examen d’admission. Parmi eux, le jeune Scarin l’accoste d'un ton familier et lui propose de lui donner les réponses à l’épreuve écrite, obtenues de source sûre par un cousin Lépidoré.
Ce garçon est-il digne de confiance ? Êtes-vous prêt à tricher à cet examen pour obtenir le sésame ?
L’imposant examinateur du nom de Chrysal est-il suffisamment distrait pour se laisser berner par les fourberies de Scarin ?

Quoiqu’il advienne, c’est l’examen pratique sur une île sauvage qui mettra le plus, notre ancien à l’épreuve. Et malgré sa grande expérience, Latreille sait qu’il n’a plus la fougue de ses 20 ans.

Expansion: The Trance of the Silverfish

In this expansion, you play as a young Zephyrhyme, barely a few thousand years old. Your peers, to validate your probationary period, ask you to prove yourself on “Minor Tragedies”.

The City of Kell is full of many personal dramas and it is by embodying a young public writer named Frigan, that you will have to prove yourself.

Accustomed to rubbing shoulders with all layers of Kellian society to find inspiration, Frigan is shrewd and accustomed to the most devious intrigues. Within his mind, you detect three separate cases that are tormenting his soul. Nothing indicates that these mysteries are related, so you decide to embody a second Hero, intimately linked to each of them.

Introducing Frigan

Frigan is the main hero of this expansion. Present throughout this saga, you sense that this epic will mark a decisive turning point in his life.

He is a young public writer of integrity and virtue... perhaps a little too much in the eyes of his editor, who just fired him from the Gazette for being overzealous in a recent investigation involving two senior members of the SquadrAnt Legion.

Frigan is what is commonly called Casteless, a Kellian who has pledged allegiance to no Major Guild. Without the support of a community, he is therefore immediately at the foot of the wall financially, and begins by selling his writings to the highest bidder.

Accustomed to rubbing shoulders with all layers of Kellian society to find inspiration, Frigan is shrewd and accustomed to the most devious intrigues. He is a rather resourceful nosy journalist who knows how to get people to confide in him, to obtain their confessions, or who knows how to blend in with the crowd to better collect confidential information.

Mrs Dori

Former nurse of Frigan, Madame Dori came to him to report her husband's strange behavior. Suddenly touched by piety, he abandoned his work as an accountant and devoted himself fully to a new faith that he refuses to talk about. Between his increasingly frequent absences, he isolates himself in an incomprehensible mystical fervor.

Beneath her air of an impotent old woman, Madame Dori remains a vigorous person with a perfectly sharp mind. Her love for her husband makes her capable of the greatest feats...

Chrys O'Bal

Chrysobal (his real name) is the only son of a powerful Lepilazuli named Pyral. A rebellious teenager, “Chrys” affirms a deep disagreement with his social rank, preferring to claim his membership of the Silencers, a very select club whose emblem is a black moth. Forced to accompany his father on a river safari, he will lend a hand to Frigan, who has come there to write Pyral's autobiography.

Hoverfay

Under the guise of a prostitute from the chic neighborhoods, Hoverfay is well known to the SquadrAnt Legion services for being the privileged informer of several investigative journalists.

While she risks her life and her cover every day, it is to her brother Lubin that she owes her most recent endangerment. Recently molested by four Skeeters to obtain information about her brother, Hoverfay comes one morning to seek Frigan's help to get the young man out of the dirty sheets he has gotten himself into.

Before going to visit his apartment, a detour to his place of work should be most instructive...

Extension : La Transe des Poissons d’Argent

Pour cette extension, vous incarnez un jeune Soufflerime d’à peine quelques milliers d’années. Vos pairs, pour valider votre période de probation, vous demandent de faire vos preuves sur des Tragédies Mineures.

La Cité de Kell regorge de nombreux drames personnels et c'est en incarnant un jeune écrivain public du nom de Frigan, que vous allez devoir faire vos preuves.

Habitué à côtoyer toutes les couches de la société kellienne pour trouver l'inspiration, Frigan est fûté et rôdé aux intrigues les plus retorses. Dans son esprit vous décelez 3 affaires distinctes qui mettent son âme au tourment. Rien n’indique que ces mystères aient un lien, aussi décidez vous d'incarner un second Héros, intimement lié à chacune d'entre elles.

Présentation de Frigan

Frigan est le Héros principal de cette extension.
  Présent tout au long de cette saga, vous pressentez que cette épopée marquera un tournant décisif de sa vie.

Jeune écrivain public intègre et vertueux … il l'est sans doute un peu trop aux yeux de son rédacteur en chef, qui vient tout juste de le limoger de la gazette pour excès de zèle dans une récente enquête concernant deux hauts responsables fourmiliars.

Frigan est ce que l’on appelle communément un hors caste, un kellien n’ayant prêté allégeance à aucun Guilde Majeure.

Sans l’appui d’une communauté, il est donc immédiatement au pied du mur financièrement, et commence par vendre ses écrits au plus offrant.

Habitué à côtoyer toutes les couches de la société kellienne pour trouver l'inspiration, Frigan est fûté et habitué aux intrigues les plus retorses.

C’est un journaliste fouineur plutôt débrouillard qui sait mettre en confiance les gens pour obtenir leurs aveux, ou qui sait se fondre dans la masse pour mieux collecter des informations confidentielles.

Madame Dori

Ancienne nourrice de Frigan, Madame Dori est venue le solliciter pour lui rapporter le comportement étrange de son mari. Subitement touché par la piété, il délaisse son travail de comptable et se consacre pleinement à une foi nouvelle dont il refuse de parler. Entre ses absences de plus en plus fréquentes, il s'isole dans une ferveur mystique incompréhensible.

Sous ses airs de vieille femme impotente, Madame Dori reste une personne vigoureuse et à l’esprit parfaitement affûté. Son amour pour son mari la rend capable des plus grandes prouesses…

Chrys O’Bal

Chrysobal (de son vrai nom) est le fils unique d’un puissant Lépidoré du nom de Pyral.

Adulescent rebelle, “Chrys” affirme un profond désaccord avec son rang social, préférant revendiquer son appartenance aux Silenciels, un club très sélect ayant pour emblème un papillon de nuit noir.

Syrphée

Sous l’apparence d’une fille de joie des quartiers chics, Syrphée est bien connue des services fourmiliars pour être l’indicatrice privilégiée de plusieurs journalistes d’investigation.

Alors qu’elle risque tous les jours sa vie et sa couverture, c’est à son frère Lubin qu’elle doit sa plus récente mise en danger. Récemment malmenée par 4 individus apparentés Mousts pour obtenir des renseignements sur son frère, Syrphée vient un matin quérir l’aide de Frigan pour tirer le jeune homme des sales draps dans lesquels il s’est fourré.
